a very special guest post ~ carleth & adrian

carleth and adrian are close friends, and, the cutest couple. as i’ve mentioned before (here), and luckily for me, they got married here in provo. i was flattered to know they had never been in turks and caicos and fell in love with the island through myseastory! i asked carleth to share a few thoughts on their special wedding weekend on island…

My dream was to get married on the most beautiful beach in the world, and it became true on May 26th.

It was a risk to organize a wedding at a place we had never been to, and most of our guests had never even heard of, but like someone once told me before: “with Turks & Caicos, you can never go wrong”. And so we did. We mobilized over 80 people from different corners of the planet, with the promise of paradise.

Grace Bay Beach exceeded our expectations and, on Memorial Day weekend, its turquoise waters created memories that will forever bond our eclectic and multicultural group.

It was a hot afternoon on May 26th, but nobody cared. Sweating on the dance floor of Bay Bistro was the perfect excuse for our friends to cool off in the water under the bright moon.

It was the happiest weekend of our lives, not only because we sealed our love for each other, but because of the wonderful activities in the island: the boat ride, the conch fishing, the snorkeling, the parasailing, the rum punch and the tasty fish tacos at Somewhere Café, all of which printed huge smiles on the faces of our loved ones.

One of our friends asked us if we will return to Provo one day, and we answered yes. “Maybe for our first anniversary” and he replied: “can we all tag along again??”

caicos dream

i have previously mentioned caicos dream tours (here), but it’s was about time I tell you a little more about it.

here’s the thing, every time we have friends and family visiting we go on this tour -yes, i have lost my count! my first time was on my first weekend on island and last week i got to go again – and i love it every time.

last week we were a ginormous group, so we had two boats for ourselves, but usually they pick up tourists staying at hotels along grace bay beach.

this is perfect for half a day plan and the outing has three different chapters!

first we stop by the reef for some snorkeling, i recommend you bringing your snorkeling material, but otherwise you can borrow theirs. we get to see all sorts of coral and colored fish – sometimes we bring our underwater camera too.

then we stop at a special spot to go conch searching, it is quite tricky as they are very well disguised.

we then stopped at iguana island, learn how to clean up a conch and relax by the beach in search of iguanas.

last week there were loads of eagle rays coming near the shore and we even saw a small shark just when we got out of the water!! can you see it? i know it’s small, but still a shark!

on the way back we get to eat conch ceviche made with the conchs we found and each family can take a conch shell home.

we had a great day out and i recommend anyone coming to provo to sign up! make sure you bring lots of sunscreen!!

happy weekend from somewhere

hey guys! i hope you’re having a sunny weekend and perhaps celebrating the queen’s golden jubilee. we have a holiday monday and tuesday – the perks of belonging to the british commonwealth…

this picture is from my friend’s wedding last week. the rehearsal dinner was at somewhere – it’s funny because it was my first rehearsal dinner (we don’t really do them in portugal), but all we did was eat tacos and drink pina coladas all night!

his dive story

The sea is always full of life, colours and shapes. It’s just incredible how nature creates all these things. Every dive I go on is different in what I “happen” to see as there is so much. My favs are the brain corals and sponges.

Enjoy some of the colours and shapes.

i’m back

after an extra long weekend.

it turns out the three day wedding ended up being more than 5 days long! i had an amazing time and i almost felt like i was away on vacation on a beautiful island – not away, but everything else so true. we’re not used to so much action, here in provo.

it does feel nice to be back to our own routine and have a quiet weekend in the sun to look forward to. and i’m counting the days for our next vacation – less than two weeks to go!
