caicos dream

i have previously mentioned caicos dream tours (here), but it’s was about time I tell you a little more about it.

here’s the thing, every time we have friends and family visiting we go on this tour -yes, i have lost my count! my first time was on my first weekend on island and last week i got to go again – and i love it every time.

last week we were a ginormous group, so we had two boats for ourselves, but usually they pick up tourists staying at hotels along grace bay beach.

this is perfect for half a day plan and the outing has three different chapters!

first we stop by the reef for some snorkeling, i recommend you bringing your snorkeling material, but otherwise you can borrow theirs. we get to see all sorts of coral and colored fish – sometimes we bring our underwater camera too.

then we stop at a special spot to go conch searching, it is quite tricky as they are very well disguised.

we then stopped at iguana island, learn how to clean up a conch and relax by the beach in search of iguanas.

last week there were loads of eagle rays coming near the shore and we even saw a small shark just when we got out of the water!! can you see it? i know it’s small, but still a shark!

on the way back we get to eat conch ceviche made with the conchs we found and each family can take a conch shell home.

we had a great day out and i recommend anyone coming to provo to sign up! make sure you bring lots of sunscreen!!

guest post ~ lila

lila is, in real life, my dear mum, i have previously shared a few things about her stay (here and here), and i can’t think of someone who enjoyed herself as much in provo. in every corner of the island she could see the beauty of it, the beaches, the well taken care gardens, the variety of sea shells. today she is sharing a little of her point of view with you –

what do you think makes turks and caicos (providenciales) so special?

I was in Provo for two weeks, and I think it was Paradise: the weather is good , the beaches are immense with not many people, or no one, the water is  transparent, in different colours of green, turquoise and blue, it is fresh, not cold or warm, the sand is thin and white. Besides, it is a quiet island, with no traffic, with restaurants to go by the sea, never crowded, the food is varied, and so many other things to do.
what were your favorite things to do whilst on island?
Snorkeling, specially in Coral Garden. Walking on the beach while listening to music on my ipod.  Driving around the island and discovering different beautiful beaches, the Bight, Emerald Point, Long Bay, Pelican beach…we counted ten, each nicer than the other. Going to Iguana island with the kayak. Seeing the world  underwater, on a trip with the Undersea Explorer semi sub boat. Having a drink at Grace Bay Club, at the sunset. Dinning at Amanyara (expensive). Going to Conch Shack and try some fried  conch. Having lunch at Somewhere,  a very nice  restaurant at Coral Garden’s. And, above all, the great surprise Joana and James organized, two days at Parrot Cay. That was fabulous!

would you recommend to a friend?

Of course, but not less than ten days. So that they have time to go to those wonderful beaches, and to do many of the different programs we wanted to do, also parasailing, body board, horse riding, etc. It´s worth it!!!!!!!

family weekend in provo

its been a constant party at home this week, with three guests, we’ve had meals in and out, gone back and forth all day, exploring the island, chilling at the beach, snorkeling, diving, kite surfing and shopping too! my visitors will be guest-posting the next couple of weeks, and tell you all about their holidays in provo – so stay tuned!

i took this picture earlier this week on our day trip to iguana island – the weather was perfect, the water was warm and we saw plenty of iguanas.

i’m sad that the week is getting to an end, but i do look forward to next week too – provo -> new york -> lisbon -> london…how exciting!

oh, and in case i’m not around as much, do check me out on facebook, twitter and pinterest – HAPPY WEEKENDING my friends!
