woopa, james is back with a special diving post on grand turk!

his-dive-story-48aWell, everyone has been telling me that I have to fly to Grand Turk and dive there as it is just amazing. The reef wall is less than 5 min from shore, I mean literally, the minute you board the skiff, sit down, put your gear on and bam! You are there! Continue reading

my turks and caicos guide

myseastory-turks-and-caicos-mini-guideas we approach the date to my cousin’s visit, i started drafting yet another email with tips and suggestions on what to do in turks and caicos. every time we have someone visiting i like to put my personal suggestions together hoping that they have the time of their life and don’t miss out on anything. i love doing this and try to give detailed input as if it was for me.

so i thought why not have a permanent short guide for anyone planning to visit? i will keep this info with easy access and update regularly as new places and spots come up (or my opinion changes) – Continue reading

Hey everyone. I took a hiatus but that doesn’t mean that I have not been diving. In fact, I have been diving every week. I have tons to share with you.

This past weekend, I went both days on the Caicos Cat as my usual dive shop was closed for the low season. We had never stayed on island in September before as we usually travel but we decided to stay this year. The weather was hot and humid but the sea very flat and clear. Both days we traveled to the French Cays which normally is not my fav site but this time, I must say I am now a new convert!

The sites we went to were amazing and so full of life. We saw eagle rays, turtles, sharks, barracudas and dolphins. The reef wall drop off is deep and a bit dark in some areas. Spooky! The corals were all in fairly good shape. BTW, this time of the year, the dive boats are not overly crowded in fact, Saturday we only had 7 divers on board! Yeah man! It was great for me not for the operator though…. Please enjoy the videos.

2013-05-13-turks-and-caicos-3 I am starting to really enjoy taking pics with my new wide and macro lens along with the new compact INON flash. I am still playing with the set ups as there are so many variations!

This past sunday, we went to Northwest point where I love to dive as the walls there by Amanyara Resort are just incredibly amazing to look at.

Then there are the sea life including a very cool star fish stuck on a blueish/violet fan. Well, enjoy.

2013-04-03-his-dive-story-iIt’s been a while since I did a post on our favorite Caribbean reef sharks but I felt compelled to do one after this past Sunday’s dive at West Caicos. We were at the Gully and immediately after I descended (first one to splash), there were 4 sharks swimming around me.

It was very thrilling even though I tend to take these predators for granted as we see them quite often in most of our dives around the TCI but for some reason today, it felt different….They appear to be bigger than the usual ones I normally see!! Help!  LOL!

2013-04-03-his-dive-story-11They were still curious and swam by us a few times. There was one that came straight at me to test me but I held my ground at the last minute and it just turned to the side. Whew! Enjoy the vids and pics.
