conch festival

last weekend he headed to the conch festival, since it is our first year in provo, we were excited to see what it was about!

we went straight to the conch tasting competition, sampling dishes prepared by the 25 local participating restaurants – our favourite? parallel 23 and bay bistro, loved the flavours, presentation and friendlyness!

did you know that conch is the main export product in turks and caicos?

in our way out we bought some coconuts from these friendly kids!

it truly is one of the events of the year in provo, not to be missed!

day trip to north & middle caicos

last week my dear friends simone and christian invited me to join them for a day trip to north and middle caicos. it felt kind of exciting to leave provo for a day and go island hoping!

north caicos is the only island we can go to by ferry, and through north caicos there is a causeway to get to middle caicos.

so we got the ferry at 9.30 ($20 each way) and in 30 min were arriving to north caicos. we rented a car and made our first stop for a drink at the pelican beach hotel. it feels somewhat different here, more relaxed than provo, there is more vegetation and the people we meet are so friendly and helpful. they have a govenrment farm, which we were hoping to visit and buy some local veggies, but unfortunately it was closed.

the plan was to drive to daniel’s cafe, in middle caicos, for lunch, but (un)luckily enough our car had a flat tire, so we found this great local spot for lunch – frank’s cafe, it turned out to be a great home cooked lunch with the freshest cracked conch!

we ended our day trip relaxing in mudjin harbor before heading back home to provo.

are you a yoga girl?

i remember giving it a try, in my early twenties, and just deciding this is just not my thing. ever since, the exercise i’ve done always included loud music and lots of action.

but then i read this post about feeling better about your body, which lead me to this other post about finding balance, and it made me think… a couple of friends told me about their yoga classes here in provo – so i gave it a try, and now i am addicted. i can’t believe it was the same ME who said this was not my thing. i love it that i am actually exercising and relaxing at the same time.

i like going to the athletic club in saltmills and to the exhale spa at the gansenvoort.

why not give it a try, there will be two free yoga classes by david bowen at the graceway sports centre on november 26 and december 17 @ 10.30. see here the pictures from the first one last saturday.

fort george beach party

last weekend we went to the fort george beach party and we had a blast!

fort george is an uninhabited cay very close to provo – the perfect spot to party! with many boats joining, live dj’s and food provided, it was so nice to meet up with friends from around the island and enjoy the gorgeous turquoise water and white sandy beach!

we look forward to the ones to come!
