diving with turtles

i find sea turtles one of the most friendly looking sea creatures. james gets to see them all the time whenever he goes diving – i still hope i get to swim near one soon!

unfortunately turtles are an endangered species… mainly due to turtle fishing and oil spills from cargo ships (!!).

they really are surprising creatures – suzie, an adult green turtle, and the first to be tagged by the turks and caicos islands turtle project, undertook an incredible 6,000 kms round trip in 2009 and 2010 – read more about her story here.

and other awesome diving picture here!

chinson pastries and deli

last weekend, whilst we were moving, and were not really in the mood for cooking until our home was in order, we went to chinson’s for take away.

the menu is jamaican chinese, but we mostly like going on fridays and saturdays for their caribbean bbq.

it’s the perfect place for a casual dinner, listening to caribbean music and having a cold beer. the jerk pork and chicken are really good – and if you are a local foodie kind of guy/gal, you should definitely try their goat soup!

oh, and we do like going by on weekends to get some fresh bread or ginger bread.

emancipation day

we have a holiday today in the TCI – to celebrate the slavery abolition act 1833 that ended slavery in the british empire on august 1, 1834 – this day is widely observed in the british west indies during the first week of august.

so we got to relax by the beach, sunbathe and spend hours in the water…bliss!
