blogshop mondays / island girl

Hi there! Ranu from sunshine girl guest posting for Joana today! I’m thrilled J asked me to be a part of her guest posting series, I think her blog is pretty sweet (and so is the latest place she calls home—Turks and Caicos, also known as…paradise).

Speaking of paradise, I find that I’m always drawn to images with a beach or island setting. I have to admit that I’m a beach lover at heart, so the fact that J’s blog has to do with sea, sand and sun is a perfect fit for me. I wanted to share a gorgeous editorial shoot today that features Anja Rubik, one of my favorite models, in a beautiful beach setting. This series of photos has stuck with me since the day I discovered them, and I always use them as a source of inspiration. There’s amazing fashion, and Anja looks so beautiful, using flowers and ferns as accessories, and so natural too. A true island girl at heart.

I hope you’ll find the photos as inspiring as I do! And thanks J, for asking me to guest blog!

blogshop mondays / endless summer

Hey Everyone! I’m Emily, from Emily Running in Heels, and I’m so thrilled that Joana asked me to guest post on her lovely blog!

I’ll have to admit, I’m super jealous of her life in the Turks and Caicos. The idea of an endless summer with non stop sunshine and sand sounds absolutely divine.

While I can’t quite up and move from New York City to the Turks and Caicos, I can fantasize about taking a little beach vacation. Anyone with me? Since I’m already dreaming, I’ll go ahead and show you what would be in my perfect beach bag.

Imaginary vacations are so much better than facing Monday.

xo.

guest post ~ clarissa

clarissa and hayden are james’s friends from malta, they love diving as much as he does, so they came over to spend a week with us before the end of season – and they were our first guests at home!

what do you think makes turks and caicos (providenciales) so special?

Diving amongst the most varied marine life and different species that one can imagine! The sharks were a favourite of ours :-)

what were your favourite things to do whilst in the island?

Some of our favourite stuff was just walking along the endless white sandy beaches and swimming in that crystal clear turquoise water and spotting the sting ray & various fish & shells.

would you recommend to a friend?

We would definitely recommend Turks to our friends! It’s a lovely island with a really laid back feel and its a great place for one to unwind and relax! We can’t wait to come back :-)

ps – guest posts

guest post ~ peter

peter was our first visitor in provo, he came over in may and it was reallly nice having him around – plus, he takes amazing pictures, some posted here and here.

since we had our second visitors recently, i thought it would be fun to hear about our guests’ point of view of the island. and hope to have many more friends and family visiting the island!

what do you think makes turks and caicos (providenciales) so special?

In my opinion, what makes Providenciales so special is the authenticity of its island character that’s still insulated from rampant tourism that mobs other island destinations. One can explore pristine and uncrowded beaches, and the only companions could be your thoughts, the smooth sound of the crashing waves and the breeze flowing thru the incredibly blue sky. It is just a stunning island destination worthy of all travel magazine covers. And being a foodie, the food was pretty satisfying.

what were your favourite things to do whilst in the island?

The most wonderful thing about my week is waking up everyday, walking out from my room and seeing the wonderful turquoise blue water dancing in the sunshine. It was just unbelievably energizing to start your day this way. The other memorable event during my stay was a wonderful drive around the island with Joana and James. We explored an authentic ship wreck by wading out thru knee deep clear water; That was just awesome.

would you recommend to a friend?

Yes with no reservation, I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
