his dive story…

james left lisbon today, he is now on his way home in turks and caicos. we had a great week with my family, doing everything we missed and eating all our favourite dishes – cod fish, sea bass, barnacles, oysters and crab amongst others. portugal’s diving sites are not as beautiful and the temperature not as pleasant, but the fish we eat sure is good!

i am staying for a few more days before heading back to provo. in the meantime i leave you with this video of a shark (my favourite, you know!) from when james went diving just before leaving for vacations. he’ll be back next week!

his dive story…

Sometimes i wonder if the sharks recognized individual divers but this is wishful thinking!  I am sure i know this one as i have made this particular dive plenty of times….. will it take a swipe at me??? or just try to sniff me out!  Well, the camera didn’t shake much so I guess i am feeling pretty confident of myself….

his dive story…

Joana LOVES sea turtles and I am always in the look out for them in all my dives…a fav of TCI are the hawksbill sea turtles and I dive with Provo Turtle Divers, that is just a walk away from where we live…hawksbill sea turtles are beautiful creatures and this one was feeding and  didn’t care that I was next to it…they feed mostly on a huge variety of sea sponges found in the caribbean…u got to love them!

his dive story…

Well, I made a big exception and took off Monday to go diving with Joana’s cousin, Marta, who had just arrived from Lisbon.

The sea was much calmer today and our first dive was at the Channel between Northwest Point of Provo and West Caicos Island. Man, it was by far the best dive I’ve had so far in TCI.  There are lots of nutrients coming through the channel and the sea life there was incredible! Immediately after we splashed, we saw giant stingrays, sharks, and then this giant and graceful eagle ray gliding by…. hell, this reef is definitely on my top list to dive again and maybe I should be diving more on Mondays instead of Sundays!

his dive story…

This is one my fav dive sites at West Caicos.  The Gully it is called.   the water is amazingly warm at 27c and you have to pinch yourself to make sure that the clarity of the water is REAL!   My first dive in Turks & Caicos was here back in January 2011. It is on an amazing white sandy bed slowly sloping down into the Wall otherwise known as the reef drop off which goes into the deep sea….  this shark had been circling around us and when he got onto the white sandy part, i knew i had to film it.
