jan-17-instawhere did this month go – my new year’s resolution (of exploring san francisco more often and trying out more new spots), julia’s 3rd birthday bash and chinese new year – we’re ready for the love month. also, it’s been raining on and off and we’re doing our best to keep dry and sane ♡

julia-0552we had a little birthday bash for julia’s 3rd – it was a first for me, kids birthday party planning, and to be honest, it’s not my thing, what do parents expect, what do kids expect, without overdoing it. luckily, she had no expectations, we had a good turn out and that’s what made her feel so special, her friends.

we chose a sea life theme-ish, as an ode to our turks and caicos days, we inflated a few floaters, perfect for decor and lots of play – sharks, dolphins and octopus. we set up an activity table with cutouts, pens and stamps. we ordered pizza and chocolate donut holes. and to top it off, i made a chocolate cake that looked pretty lousy but was covered in m&m’s, making her jump with joy – truly believing it was the best cake ever (i jumped with joy too!). ♡

this is how we roll every morning – after the hush hush to leave the house, and given that there is no rain, we have 20 minutes of pure bliss – with baby and throw over her lap, we walk to school. we check out the birds and squirrels, we smell the flowers or admire the succulents, sometimes we talk, so many times we have the comfort of silent. i cherish every minute of it, and i’m sure, so does she ♡

i’ve been going through a tough blog phase, trying to live life on a more personal way, truly enjoying spending time with my daughter and cherishing my moments alone (= binging on books lately), but the truth is sometimes i do miss blogging, for me, as my diary and my way to register my life… so i might be popping in and out around here :)

this year i’m determined to explore more of San Francisco – we live in Berkeley, which is about 14miles (22km) and there’s plenty to explore here but i’m on a mission to experience a few cool spots on the west bay too.

the mill was probably the first coffee shop i went to in SF, i couldn’t believe its simple yet brilliant concept, they brew amazing coffee and bake exceptionally good bread. their toasts are delicious and vary everyday – look at that ricotta and pesto one below. i have yet to try their pizza night too, on every monday and wednesday.

i keep coming back, i love the feeling of being in a place where no one knows me, and at the same time i feel at home there.
