julia at age 1 – those of you who know julia, know this is her happy face, she frowns when she’s the happiest. and although i might not be the craftiest of mums, this home made play dough, at least, made her frown, and that makes it so worth it ♡

we’ve had the dominican republic on our bucket list since we moved here, more than four years ago – there are so many dominicans living on island, and hear so much about it, we were excited to finally visit.
we went for a very short weekend, didn’t rent a car or went shopping, we stayed at the historical centre, and wanted to walk the neighborhood and absorb as much culture and history as we could. the city’s zona colonial, historical centre, was declared as a world heritage site by unesco. julia at age 1 – when we wake up every morning at 6.30, we have our little morning routine, james takes julia out to the garden and the beach, she points out to everything and waves hi to everyone she sees. but the best part (other than having 5min for myself!) is the look on her face when she comes back home with a flower in her hand for me! this has become my favorite time of the day ♡

when my mum came to visit last november, she set up a mini art studio by our back porch. she had loads of pictures from her previous visits and spent her days painting outside. it was so nice having her present, and knowing that she felt at home, doing what she likes best, in our place.
lucky me, i got her turks and caicos watercolours as christmas gifts, so now i have all these really cute reminders of her stay on island.
julia at age 1 – feeding julia has always required a lot of patience and good moods, but now i’m having a hard time giving her vegetables, so we’re trying a different approach…a fruit smoothie with disguised vegetables, and she loves it! (this one had frozen mango, frozen raspberries, avocado and spinach) ♡
