nyc – brooklyn

it was too hot, but when in ny last week, i had to do the cross-brooklyn-bridge experience – and the views were amazing!

i was so lucky to spend the day with a dear friend from back home – we then wandered through brooklyn,  did some shopping and had the nicest lunch break at building on bond, a great spot recommended to us by the jonathan adler shop round the corner.

nyc – highline

i went twice, during my stay in ny!

the highline, a public park built on a 1.45-mile-long elevated rail structure, is one of the smartest initiatives i’ve heard of. it used to be a freight rail line that carried meat to the meatpacking district, agricultural goods to the factories and warehouses of the industrial west side, and mail to the post office.

there are loads of foodie spots around the highline – we had an uberdelicious brunch at the standard grill before the walk – the atmosphere was great and the sun was shining, so our outdoor seating was perfect. on another day, we stopped at the lot for drinks and snacks.

we walked and walked and walked, shopped, window-shopped and complained about our feet, but we couldn’t stop!

back to provo

living in provo is like paradise, but sometimes you just feel like going back to reality for a break.

my week spent in new york couldn’t have been better, shopping, public transportation and even pollution did real good to me! now i’m ready for some more island life until we leave for our vacation in september.

it’s good to be home!

so yummy chocolate cake in new york

last weekend, whilst wandering in nolita, we came across the perfect spot to treat ourselves – coffee and a a slice of the best chocolate cake in the world…so well deserved after walking for hours!

i first tried this cake more than ten years ago, back home in lisbon, where the cake is from, and have been a huge fan ever since!

you can find it in three different locations in new york, and perfect for dessert or just a yummy treat. also, check out their cork sofa chairs, so cool!

nyc – nolita

my first couple of days in new york have been amazing!

i arrived saturday evening, just in time for drinks and appetizers at the crosby terrace– the stuffed zuchini flowers were so good – i had been craving for these lately!

we had a late dinner at ruby’s cafe  – my brother’s all time favourite in nolita, where we shared an amazing burguer and delicious chicken and pumpkin salad – so good!

sunday was all about walking, sightseeing and stopping by some foodie spots too!

more on ny coming soon.
