moving to turks and caicos has really tought me how to live with little or no shopping – ok, for a certain period of time. here, you don’t feel the need to spend, there is limited choice and the prices are high. on the down side, when i’m off island, i know i have a few days to shop and sometimes not enough time to plan and decide what i really need/want. it’s all or nothing…
if you are craving a little vacations shopping, here is where i like to go (in no particular order) if i have to get a gift for a friend or when i’m in need of some retail therapy –
ANNA’S ART GALLERY, everything sea, sun and sand themed, art, books and shells, great island souvenirs.
DESIGN STUDIO, awesome hostess gifts and decorative pieces, i just bought the perfect wine glasses for the pool ;)
FLOWERS BY EA, not only the best fresh flowers and coffee on island and , but they also carry cute candles, soaps and lotions.
GRACE BAY CLUB BOUTIQUE, great beachwear, beach bags and clutches, cute accessories too.
luckily, i also have many talented friends, so rather than going shopping, i sometimes get a crafty gift from my artsy friend jen maude design, or a box of the most delicious macarons from my friend annie of from scratch or even a box of to-die-for sea salt caramels made by my friend heather at island kitchen. i stock up on the best french cheese and wine at turquoise distribution. and for cool TCI merchandise, i recommend the caicos adventures store at the regent village, has great stuff.
ps – the annual turks and caicos arts and crafted expo has endless shopping options if you’re visiting in december…
